Principal's Message

Todd Stockwell
Dear Doss Community,

Happy Holidays to everyone in Dragon Nation. It’s hard to believe that we are nearly finished with the 1st semester, and that we have done it all in a Non-Traditional format. I am very proud of the work of our entire staff, and with the fortitude and resilience our students have shown throughout this process.  NTI is difficult and can be a very mentally draining process for everyone involved.  Thank you to all of our students and their families for continuing to push forward and stay positive. Hopefully, students and teachers can get back into the building again in the very near future, and we can begin the process of resuming a normal school schedule. Please continue to check the JCPS ( ) and Doss ( ) websites for updates on a return to school. Thank you again for your support and patience.

Recently, we have started an after school ESS program to provide support for all students. Supports include course recovery in all content areas, and enrichment opportunities for students who are performing at a proficient level. This service will continue when we return from the Holiday Break (Jan. 4th-Jan. 15th) to help all students complete the necessary 1st semester work to meet the requirements for the course. All ESS opportunities will occur after 2:30 p.m, and it will depend on the content as to what day each teacher is staying. Please reach out to individual teachers for more information or contact Mr. Scott Beldon ( if you have additional questions about after school ESS.

Doss High School will be administering 1st semester final exams December 14th – December 18th.  Teachers are communicating with students all of the specific information regarding each assessment.  We will use the first two weeks in January after the Holiday Break to assist students in recovery efforts for all 1st semester classes. It is very important to ensure that students take their assessments and are communicating consistently with teachers on progress. Also, do not hesitate to contact your student’s Academy Counselor to further discuss grades and progress in the 1st semester.

Jefferson County Public Schools has decided to continue the postponement of Winter Sports until after January 1st, 2021. Students will not be allowed to participate in athletics until a determination is made by the board of education after the 1st of the year. We will continue to send out athletic updates on a regular basis. You can direct specific sports questions to our Athletic Director, Danny McCreedy (

I want to again wish the entire Doss Community Happy Holidays and a safe and healthy New Year. I look forward to seeing everyone in 2021. Please continue to refer to our website for daily school updates.
