Principal's Message

Todd Stockwell
Dragon Nation,

We are getting ready to complete our fourth full week back to in-person learning. Currently, we have about 550 students who are physically coming to school, and around 450 students who have chosen to continue the virtual option. Our team has created an awesome “Return to School” schedule that best fits the needs of all learners (virtual or face to face). It has been fantastic to see hallways full of students again, and to be able to have positive interactions with students and staff. With that being said, the end of the 20-21 school year is on the horizon, and we have a lot of work to prepare for end of the year events. Here is our “Return to School” schedule: Doss HS Return to School Schedule here.

As you know, we will hold an in-person graduation for the class of 2021. This will take place at the Doss High School Football Stadium on Thursday May 27th at 5:30 p.m. (last name A-K) and 7:30 p.m. (last name L-Z). Students will attend graduation based on their last name to help with capacity in the stadium, and to allow each graduate to invite six people. More information regarding graduation and Senior activities will be sent home to families the 1st week of May.

JCPS is in the process of creating a robust amount of Summer Learning opportunities for all students. This summer learning will help build a bridge to success in the ’21-22 school year. I highly encourage all families to explore these opportunities, and to look for ways to extend face to face learning into the summer and beyond. You can visit the link below for more information on how to sign up for JCPS summer learning:

On Sunday April 18th, Eric Davie (School Security Guard and Assistant Basketball Coach) unexpectedly passed away. This tragedy has hit Dragon Nation very hard. Coach Davie had a tremendous presence in the building, and was a positive mentor to many students and staff. Please keep Coach Davie’s family in your thoughts during this very difficult time. We will continue to offer support to all students who need any assistance. Please contact the Counseling Office (485-8239) with any specific questions regarding short term counseling or other social emotional student support.

I look forward to a fantastic graduation, and then to turning the page to a full return to school in August of 2021. As we move through the month of May, please do not hesitate to call the school with any questions. As always, thank you for your support in making Doss High School the best school it can be. Stay safe and healthy.
